Emotional intelligence and emotional well-being have many facets but in general it is about self-esteem – how you feel about yourself and how you interact with the world around. The Emotional Intelligence program at Sober College, young adult drug rehab involves a number of experiential therapy activities designed to help young adults in recovery gain self-esteem and get in touch with their emotions.
One experiential therapy that clients look forward to is surfing. Surfing can be very challenging but it can also fun and incredibly rewarding. Whether or not the young adults at Sober College get up their first time, or not at all, when they participate in this challenging activity they are encouraged to push through the frustration and fear and come out on the other side and experience true accomplishment.
Sober College young adult rehab program adds surfing to its emotional intelligence program to allow clients to learn more about their feelings during the activity. Knowing the triggers for negative or positive feelings is important because then you can notice the triggers and know how to combat them. The emotional intelligence program is a healthy way to approach emotions and to be mindful of them. Having this knowledge can offer more success to sobriety because knowing how to be comfortable with emotions and our self can allow us to be able to get through the hard times. Sober College and its young adult rehab program has a large and successful way to approach drug rehab and is able to make it enjoyable for each client that attends the program.
