This last weekend Sober College men’s residential program had a chance to experience a different type of Alcohol Anonymous meeting. Our men’s program traveled to a sober men’s retreat and participated in their recovery by fellowshipping with other sober young people and attending a 12-step speaker meeting. Cocaine addiction has been researched by many people in the medical field. The University of Cambridge has found a difference between recreational cocaine users, and cocaine addicts. They are very similar, but their program is based around a different substance abuses: Narcotics Anonymous focuses on drugs and Alcoholics Anonymous on Alcohol. Another Student Dies In Birthday Alcohol Binge The death of Mason Sumnicht, a student of Chico State University, is just one of the thousands of college fatalities caused by drinking too much alcohol. After consuming 21 shots to celebrate his 21st birthday on November 4th 2012, the undergraduate suffered extreme alcohol poisoning resulting in permanent brain damage. He was taken off life support after 11 days in the hospital. Sumnicht was believed to have been pledging the Sigma Pi fraternity.
