[...] Today our Women’s Program is going surfing. Many of our clients have never even held a surf board before, let alone tried to ride a wave. With the help of a surf instructor, and motivation from their staff and Program Director the girls are hitting the beach. Sober College uses surfing, and and trapeze to help clients get in touch with emotions that surround situations that can be both fun and stressful. These exercises are referred to as experiential therapy.
Thank you for expressing your experience....As I look to the future for my fifteen year old son in recovery, I am hopeful that such a place exits. Although we live in suburban Chicago, I am going to research your campus....I know what happens at college, hey I was there in the seventies and eighties.... and I know it is not good for my recovering son. He will be choose a college in less than two years. Next year, his junior year, we need to determine what options exist to keep him safe and at the same time, pursuing a degree. I wish you all the best and am rooting for you! Keep the faith, one day at a time. Laurie, Naperville, Illinois
