Individualized
From beginning to end our students have a one of a kind experience here at Sober College, tailored specifically to their academic, psychiatric, therapeutic, physical, and emotional needs.
Sober College understands that every client is different, which is why each client has their own individualized treatment plan developed by the members of their treatment team. A clients treatment team consists of an academic coach, neuropsychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, therapist, and house manager. This team works closely with each client, their family, and each other to determine exactly how best to serve our client, and to ensure they are receiving the best care possible throughout their stay at Sober College.
Academic Coach
Every student is evaluated within his or her first week of admission and an individualized academic plan is determined. Our Academic Department takes into account past educational experience, learning strengths and weaknesses, and academic needs, to determine what courses would be most effective and beneficial for each student.
A client’s achievements and difficulties are evaluated and discussed among not only the academic staff but with the rest of the students treatment team. Together your son or daughters treatment team decide the best action to continue or achieve success in the academic portion of our program.
Psychiatry
Psychiatric Stabilization and Management is done by staff psychiatrist Dr. Shahla Modir. Dr. Modir is an expert in treating dual diagnosed clients. She is double board certified in Psychiatry as well as Addiction Medicine and has worked with hundred of alcoholics and addicts. Sober College is a dual diagnosis treatment program, and assists students with both preexisting and undiagnosed mental disorders.
Therapeutic
Sober College not only understands that every young adult is different, but encourages them to find what makes them an individual.
Students participate in weekly individual therapy. They look at their issues with the help of a licensed therapist. This allows students to go deeper into their issues. The consistency of the meetings allows the student to develop trust with the therapist, leading to insight and healing.
The heart of our clinical approach is a treatment team mentality that utilizes a multidisciplinary approach based on comprehensive assessment and diagnostic criteria. All levels of staff meet together on a weekly basis to discuss the progress of each student. This attention to detail keeps the team focused and the best interests of each client at heart.
Physical Fitness
During his or her stay at Sober College, each resident works directly with our fitness Director, Ken Niemann to develop an individualized fitness program. Each program is designed to accommodate the individual’s needs, providing them with a fitness plan they are both comfortable with and contains the necessary physical fitness a person in early recovery needs.
Many Sober College students come in and have back, leg, balance and a plethora of other problems. Ken works with each student on a one-on-one basis if required to help them overcome their limitations and get back on their feet. Our fitness program offers outdoor activities, individual and team sports, customized diet programs, consultations with a Master Level Fitness Trainer, classroom instruction for health maintenance and more.
