Our Treatment Model

The Sober College treatment model is designed to help struggling young adults be successful in life, through achievement in what we refer to as the Five Core Competencies.

1. Sobriety - a life free of mind and mood altering substances;

Sobriety is the basis from which our program stems; without it, none of the other amazing things that happen for our residents would be possible. During their time at Sober College, our students learn tools they will need to get and stay sober while in treatment and for many years to come. 2. Clinical – effective management of feelings and emotions;

Sober College’s clinical team is trained to work specifically with young adults struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. We incorporate both a comprehensive and integrated approach by board certified psychiatrists and licensed or licensed eligible clinicians. Our treatment team consisting of psychiatrists, therapists, drug and alcohol counselors, our academic director and staff, and house managers meets weekly to discuss each clients individual progress, and how to best serve them as they move forward to ensure the best possible patient care… (read more)

3. Life Skills – ability to manage stress and daily challenges;

Students cook family-style dinner for their housemates.

Achievement in Life Skills is a combined practical and learning approach. This combination allows a participant to gain greater competency in both personal life skills and relational life skills. Students are expected to complete chores, like making their bed, cleaning the kitchen, as well as helping their staff and peers to cook dinner. Just by helping to cook dinner they are learning skills like cooking, cleaning, following directions, and teamwork. 4. Productivity - advancement in vocation and/or education;

Many students come to Sober College without educational direction or motivation and our expert staff work with each student to get them on the appropriate track with their education, but also making sure that track leads towards a future in a field they are passionate about.
