The courses in the Certificate of General Studies give students the opportunity to examine their issues in a classroom setting, while learning study and life skills to continue on a path to higher education.
1. Public Speaking- COM 120 (Verbal Expression)

Focus: This course is designed to provide an overview of the fundamentals of human communication, focusing specifically on presentation skills and public speaking. The format of the course includes in class lectures, activities and speeches to be delivered in a peer reviewed and constructive environment. Students have the flexibility to choose speech topics that interest them, while improving their research skills and bolstering confidence in front of an audience.

4. Principles of Healthy Living- BHVR 1700 (Personal and Social Responsibility)

Focus: This course empowers students to move beyond the classroom and challenges them to approach social, environmental, political, and economic issues from a “human” perspective while engaging in positive community “Action-ism” projects. Personal fitness is the foundation for success in these areas.

5. Psychology of Personal Transformation – PSYC 170 (Emotional Intelligence)

This course is designed to help develop insight and succeed in your education and your future as a life-long learner. This course looks at multiple forms of intelligence and spheres of influence in order to analyze what it will take to “thrive” in one’s own context.
