Using a Treatment Team Mentality to Provide the Best Care Possible
Sober College incorporates a comprehensive and integrated clinical approach by licensed practitioners that specialize in addictive and co-occurring disorders in young adults in early recovery, including recovery from eating disorders. The heart of our clinical approach is a treatment team mentality that utilizes a multidisciplinary approach based on comprehensive assessment and diagnostic criteria. All levels of staff meet together on a weekly basis to discuss the progress of each student. This attention to detail keeps the team focused and the best interests of each student client at heart.
Our clinical treatment of addictive behaviors means recognizing them as manifestations of deeper underlying clinical issues. Students’ embedded emotional patterns have led to negative and self-destructive behaviors. Our clinical process addresses these behaviors and patterns by matching therapies and techniques with the correct diagnosis, allowing students to re-engineer personal addictive belief systems.

In the state of California, “therapy” is a term and practice reserved solely for individuals that have completed a graduate level of study and completed over 3,000 hours of supervised clinical training. Programs in this field use the idea of therapy loosely and in many cases, what is termed “therapy” is actually counseling or case management. This is an important distinction and one that Sober College takes seriously.

We Offer On-Going Family Workshops
There is a family workshop that takes place at Sober College every six weeks. The workshops last for an entire weekend, and help the students and their families to work through their issues. Allowing the family to begin to heal while the student is in treatment makes it so the student does not step back into the same family situation.
