Real Life, Life Skills: Holiday Activities Helping Young Adults Live Life Sober

“The sober fun our young adults are experiencing while in treatment is not just sober fun, it is life skills training on a larger scale. Experiential Therapy Treatment

This past week, Sober College headed out to Universal City Walk to have therapy at 600mph. The experiential therapy treatment program at Sober College was designed to create situations where student can learn and put therapy tools to the test. These new studies revealed that exercises reduce self-administration as well as protective effects in substance abuse treatment. “Smart Drug” abuse

As a former college student, I have witnessed and experienced firsthand the detrimental effects of the common practice of abusing Adderall, Ritalin or other “smart drugs” in an attempt to gain an academic edge, study, or just veg out and stay up for days on end. With this knowledge, I can safely say that the results are impressively ugly. Synthetic Drug Abuse

Synthetic drugs are becoming become increasingly popular among young adults, Chuck Matson, founder of Recognizing Impairing Drugs Training said during a public forum at the Summit Activity Center Thursday night explaining the rise in use of synthetic drugs among young adults. Jennifer Berg, prevention provider for Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health said the biggest problems are binge drinking and the use of marijuana. “We’ve seen problems with synthetic drugs recently, as well as cases of psychosis,” Berg said.
