Sober College School of Addiction Studies (SCSAS) is dedicated to helping students across the globe become Certified Substance Use Counselors. Our approved online training curriculum, created and taught by “real world” addiction treatment professionals allows students to meet the education counseling requirements by state so students can become certified wherever they are.

Approved Education Provider Affiliations
National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC)
Sober College School of Addiction Studies is a NAADAC approved education provider. This means that our counselor training programs are approved to help those seeking to become certified substance use counselors on a state or national level.
Those participating in educational programs offered by NAADAC Approved Education Providers are assured that the continuing education (CE) credits provided for each course will be accepted toward national credentialing by the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP), as well as many of the individual state licensing/certification bodies in the addiction and other helping professionals.

California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP)

At CCAPP education is the key to competency and at the core of our mission. CCAPP identifies and qualifies education institutions; approves continuing education providers; and supports AOD education systems through research, grants, and test development.
Members of the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP) voted at their Annual Conference to consolidate their association with the California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources (CAARR) thus clearing the way for the two organizations to legally become the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP). CAARR’s vote was unanimous therefore, creating the largest association representing alcohol and drug counselors and programs in the state. CCAPP has a combined membership and certification base of over 9,500 professionals and combined agency membership base of over 500 facilities.”

Certification is a voluntary process by which professionals with a special interest in prevention or addiction treatment may receive recognition of demonstrated competency. Its purpose is to establish professional standards, which enable behavioral health care professionals such as counselors, allied health professionals, health service providers, third party payers, employers, and the general public to recognize qualified professionals in these fields. Certification is evidence that standards of knowledge, skill competencies, and experience have been met. The CCB is a member of the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (ICRC).The ICRC is an organization created to promote uniform professional standards and quality for the prevention and substance use counseling professions. It works toward giving behavioral health care professional greater visibility, not only in the United States, but internationally.
The CCB is working to ensure:
- The health and wellness of the people of Connecticut through the delivery of quality prevention and treatment services for those affected by substance use and mental health disorders.
- The ongoing development and expansion of a competent, professional, culturally diverse and credentialed workforce prepared to address the needs of the people of Connecticut.
